No Backlash
Teh reason there hasn't been mainstream backlash IMHO is the lack of maintream media coverage this seems to be getting. Apart from my online news sources, I haven't seen anything in New Zealand in the main media about this issue, no public announcements from Sony and the CD store I sometimes pass had no idea there was a problem.

I think this whole issue is what you get when a company that make video recorders tries to write software for PC's. They really had no idea what would happen if anyone found out.
It definately make me suspicious now of all sony retail equipment thet might have network connectivity in the future, DVD recorders, media players, viao laptops etc as there is no way to know if they won't do this again, with a better attempt at hiding this behaviour.

Sony wasn't sorry they did this, they were sorry they got caught.
