You really need to learn about the laws and technology.
Withmodern computers (as of at least the last 5 years) you have only needed 1 drive to do CD (and DVD) replication. My laptop came with a CD-RW, it can replicate a disk (up to 700MB) by doing a reed (original disk) and write (new blank). I spent about $400 to get a DVD/RW drive (would/could replace the other drive) and it dows the same thing (except that it can handle up to a 9.4 GB DVD-RAM disk).

A VHS tape is analog, youhad to have 2 tape players to replicate a tape. With modern computers, you only need 1 drive unless speed is an issue. I was able to replicate CD's at close to the same rate on my laptop and a desktop that had 2 drives (CD/RW and CD), thus there is not much of a speed difference (and it is a old laptop).

And before anyone starts crying about the cost of a second drive, yoiu have always had to have a second recorder. If you copied a VHS tape you had two decks (or dual deck), same for cassett, 8-track, Reel to Reel, all the way back.

For analog only, you have alwasy been able to do a disk to disk copy using a single drive, it is just a litle slower than doing a disk to disk copy using 2 drives (and I have done both at the same time). Before youstarte harping on some Copyright Law crap, keep in mind that what I was doing when I was doing it was legal! This does not mean that what I have done has always been legal, though.
