You must be one of the few people on the entire planet who has never lied or done anything they would prefer their kids, spouse, or parents not know.

The FBI under Hoover used this kind of information to blackmail many citizens. 99% of the reason the government and the constitution was set up including the 2nd amendment was to protect us from our OWN GOVERNMENT.

Alien threats may vary over history but the founding fathers of the united states realized that all native governments through history had a tendency to become corrupt over the long years.

Already the anti-terrorist bill and the anti-mafia bills have been used in unintended ways against non-terrorist, non-mafia private citizens by zealous public defenders.

Any evidence gained by these methods (secret wiretaps, normally illegal surveilence) should be inadmissable in other trials (and even I'm tempted to say "except murder trials" and that leads to "and kidnappings... and child abuse.. and basically everything including buying drugs from canada).

I do not think people consider how hellish this country could quickly become if we let the government have unlimited power.
