Hi, Doc Farmer.

This is the part that I've always found interesting: Why can't voting machines work like ATMs?: You go up to the machine, put your card (and it should be easy enough to mail cards to all registered voters) in, select the person you want, hit "OK", and a receipt pops out, with something like, "You voted for..." and a timestamp.

On the other hand, I think mandatory voting is a bad idea. If people are so (a)pathetic that they don't vote, screw 'em. We don't need people pushing buttons at random just because they have to.

What we really need is a system that gives people the sense that it matters who they choose, and that means, I think, doing away with primaries. Anyone from either party who wants to run, should run. Then things'd get really interesting.
