Singularity
I've done a little bit of reading, and in my honest opinion, if we encounter the "Singularity" at all, it will probably in the distant future and not the overly optimistic date Kurzweil pegs it at. Personally, I think I'll be long dead before it arrives, if it arrives at all.

Actually, the ZDNet writer gets the definition (as I understand it, at least) of the word "Singularity" wrong.

As I understand it, the "Singularity" is a supposed point where machines get intelligent enough to improve themselves, leading to a point where technology increases without human intervention, and probably out of human control. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
