At the top of the article it reads:
...the "broadcast flag," a controversial form of copy prevention technology for digital TV broadcasts.
Yet in paragraph 6 it reads:
...MPAA head Dan Glickman wrote: "The broadcast flag does not inhibit copying..."
So does it or doesn't it prevent copying? With the MPAA shill claiming "no, it doesn't", my money is on "yes, it does".
Glickman was also quoted as having said:
...nor does it prevent redistribution of programming over a personal home network--it only restricts unauthorized redistribution of programming over the Internet and other digital networks.
But just for the sake of argument, let's assume Glickman is telling the truth. The "broadcast flag" is supposedly a single bit. 0 = Copying is OK, 1 = Copying is not OK. (Or vice versa.)
So after you have finished copying, how is it determined that you're about to upload a copy of your favorite Hawaii Five-O episode to a P2P network? - Posted by: James T. Kirk Posted on: 09/30/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
