Maybe
but it is not illegal for a solider to kill another solider during a war (well, assuming they're not on the same side). Nor is it illegal for a cop to shoot someone, provided deadly force is justified. It boils down to the same point: there is a clear, well-defined legitimate use for guns, and that is their primary role. Can the same be said for P2P apps? Is their primary role (not as intended, but as imnplemented) to facilitate legal file sharing? I'm not arguing that it should be banned, nor am I on the side of the **AA's, but stealing is still stealing. And beyond that, wrong is wrong. No one who reads this has to admit it, but be honest with yourself: when you first heard of Napster and Kazaa, didn't you feel like you were getting away with something?
