If MS gets AOL, then Netscape will be a done deal. MS will own the IP rights to its name and put it on the shelf. Extinguised. They will add them to the MSN database.
If Google gets AOL then Netscape will live on. AOL users will have all of their personal data mined right out of them far worse than MS. There will be new services based on this personal data available for all.
I believe MS will get it due to the bigger checkbook.
As for ugliness, it doesn't matter.
