They don't have the RIGHT? Mine do. They play with friends, ride bike, etc. My kids do that & aren't scared. What are yours afraid of? Being attacked by terrorists on your street?
I grew up in the 70's, and High School in the early 80's. I remember having the fear of US-USSR nuclear global holocaust very well.

Since I don't know what "fear" you mean, I can't answer too well. You actually seem to be on a different topic. But if it is relating to terrorism, it does make it harder for them to achieve their goal(s).
But I keep in mind that any restriction OR leniency, can go Too Far.
Also keep in mind that flying a plane is not a Right. Just like going to a concert or sport event is not. They have the right to check on you & search you if you wish to use their service. However, I actually am more intimidated by the Government involvement than the Airline's checks.
