How can you say that credit card numbers, addresses, and telephone numbers (Which are the key to my digital identity) are not essential? Besides that, how can you believe that a company does not have to abide by the promises they give their customers? How can you believe the government has the right to suborn that kind of dishonesty? How can you look at all of the "non-essetial" infringements and not see that they add up to a pretty essential erosion of our civil liberties? Is any weakening of this foundation acceptable? Is any compromise on this subject prudent? Was Orwell a proffet who just missed his date by 20 years? We live in a much different world than when I was a kid. I'm not fourty yet, but my children live in a world as different from the comaritive safety of my childhood as I did from my grandparents. The decay is increasing in speed. When will we say enough? When will we demand more individual freedom again? There always seems to be an excuse to take a little away, but never a reason to give anything back. I have had enough.
