This all sounds very nice.
However, the first time that I get flashed in the eyes and blinded because one of these systems thinks my eyeglasses are a camera lens will be the very last time that that personage or company ever uses that product.
A light directed at the eyes of someone with the intent to distort vision, even if it were only intended for cameras, is a direct, physical attack. I know of no state that outlaws the use of deadly force to protect someone from maiming, or causing potentially fatal accidents. Defensive retaliation, including use of deadly force, is then authorized.
Since this article doesn't say anything about that possibility, I assume that the designers of this system haven't considered that either.
