What if the missile then tracks the jammer? Most of the third world (dumb) missiles just go for the brightest spot in the filed of view. Terrorist don't generally have television guided ordinaces...

At Lockheed we developed a tank mounted mast that would scan a laser to find all of the lenses "looking" in our direction and then blast them to pieces with a directed energy weapon. Problem is that it worked way to well and was deemed to "horrific" to be used in combat. Also the probability of frying a "friendly" was too great. But you can bet, if you've thought of it, so have we, a long time ago.
