So now you are sayintg that competition is bad?
"Here's the reality of your global economy. Our competition (to our company) is moving to out source much of their work to India. That means in order to be competitive I have two choices. Lay off the people working for me and do the same, or work with government leaders to change the laws."

That your conpetition is doing this should be a signal that times are changing and you have to adapt!

"Now I suspect (quite strongly) that if I ask my employees, their families or even our community that depends upon the tax base what I should do they will want me to fight this tooth and nail."

This is a hard decision for many corporations, comapnies and people. This get's down to can you compete on a larger field! Remmeber when computers were introduced into the work[place and peole became more efficient? Jobs were mad redundant and layoffs happened. Many people were upset with this, but you adapted!

The same rules apply here, you have to adapt! Layoffs happen, economic conditions change, markets evolve, the world changes!

"And no, it's not about being over paid. What most like you fail to understand is that when these jobs are sent over seas there is a lot more than wages lost. Would you care to look at towns/cities where companies have closed the doors and went abroad? The tax base has been destroyed, banks go under because people can't repay their loans, police and fire departments start laying people off because they can't pay them, schools cut back on teachers and programs, and in general the entire community suffers deeply."

The steel industry in the US is hurting, and if it were not for overseas investment many (if not all) the steal plants would go under due to European and Asian competition. Alas, jobs will be lost.

In Auto manufacturing, the assembly line and automation cost jobs and people had to learn to adapt! In Airplane manufacturing (Boeing and Airbus, as examples), work is done on a global scale, parts are built and assembled in various parts of the workd and shipped to the manufacturer for final assembly. The same in the auto industry! This does cost jobs in the short term.

People in Agerculture and IT had a discussion with a Senate pannel over these issues a few months back, the jobs are going to go unless Americans can provide a competetive advantage at a rate that customers are willing to pay!
