Many years ago my state stayed on DST for a year as a test, and
some parents made the "school kids in the dark" arguments.
(Why do people think going to school in the dark is more
dangerous than coming home in the dark?).

It's always a tragety when anyone, especially a child, is injured or
killed, but people in Alaska survive just fine with months of
darkness.

I don't think (most of) the citizens of the lower 48 are so stupid
they cannot adapt to a one hour time change.
