I was talking about "is". It's not like the court can send a King County Sheriff's deputy down to Palo Alto to arrest the man for contempt. Unless he's got assets in Washington (like a house) that can be seized, I don't see what the court could do to him. Since this is not a criminal matter, extradition is not an option.
If Google is licensed to do business in Washington (that's not a given), it's possible that the injunction could be enforced against them instead, but it's unclear how much business Google does there or what the court could actually do to them.
I'm sure MS had a good reason to file this in a Washington state court rather than federal court (Article 3 of the constitution says federal courts have jurisdiction if the parties are residents of different states), but I don't know what it is. - Posted by: John L.
