The article deals with ?poaching? of executives (and in general case, high value talent). The first poster pointed out that there is a belief that people/talent are/is expendable. From: http://news.zdnet.com/5208-9595-0.html?forumID=1&threadID=12171&messageID=243021&start=-43

But I thought employees are liabilities?
To be dispensed with on a whim. Now it turns out that they are key assets to a business. How can this be? It seems to me that these companies want to have it both ways.

This is the perception of many when one talks about employees (especially these days with all the layoffs and companies closing). The genera view in business has been that people are replicable (be they engineers or possibly executives).

Janitor vs. Engineer

Yes janitors can be replaced easily and have no knowledge of company plans, that is not the case with high level engineers..

In many cases (most) these days, janitorial services are done by companies that have staff that go to the various businesses (examples: Microsoft campus, Sun Microsystems offices, GM Corporate offices, various smaller tech companies in the software, semiconductor or communications industries, etc.). The engineers are staff or contract, the janitorial services are contract labor (often handled by another company).

In the case of engineers or executives (as in this article), the issue is that one jumped to (or was poached by) Google and was formerly employed my Microsoft. Thus, your post is out of place (and out of scope). I pointed this out to you in: http://news.zdnet.com/5208-9595-0.html?forumID=1&threadID=12171&messageID=243398&start=-43 with the clue: This deals with executives and engineers.. I am guessing from your reponse:
