It's a huge benifit
It's not laziness. Haven't you ever had that bag of salad mix turn to grey goo in the back of the fridge because you forgot about it? How about that roast that's frozen in the deep freeze too long because you forgot so it go freezer burn due it being there underneath everything. How about your milk, ever poured a glass that's off because you didn't think to check the date. How about that bacon that's been in fridge for 2 weeks or was it 3 weeks. Want to risk food poisoning? How about those left overs.

RFID would be great in a fridge. I don't need a fridge connect to the net though. But having it reduce my food waste by offering suggestions would be great. Like telling me to have a meal involving hamburger as it will expire before the pork chops will. In that way I through out less food and that's a benifit to me.

Think about getting the local flyer and being able to look and check quickly with wave of RFID reader what bulk items you have in storage. That way you don't get too much tommato soup and no chicken noodle soup when the sales are on.

How about that freezer full of beef. You have hamburger, roast, ribbs, sausage, and steak. Over time you use up a number of beef packages. Having you deep freeze being able to tell you that you have 2 steaks left or 1 roast left is a benifit.

Now I could do all this manually but typing it all in just isn't worth my time. I'd rather spend my time getting exercise instead of typing what I buy into a database.

Also why not make it generic. My codes mean something to me your codes mean something to you. If you scan my codes comparing them to your inventory you get differnt results than if I scan my goods. So no fear of police scanning the garbage can as thier inventory wouldn't match mine.
