...I'd much rather have a set of standards that each media player must conform to which would leave everything open, although I know the odds of the big corporates playing fair would be like asking the current neocons in power in the federal government to do something good for the United States.
When the trial was going on, linux wasn't nearly as viable or entrenched as it is now. And just because ther may be competition doesn't change the fact that Microsoft should have been penalized for breaking the law. Just because there may be other players doesn't suddenly exonerate Microsoft from using illegal methods to achieve market domination.
I would not want any media player to become the defacto standard. I'd much rather open standards to be established which each player would have to conform to, and allow us the choice in what player we decide to use. The market should always be "fixed" when there is a company that is breaking the law to win market share. We all know that Microsoft has been masters at doing this..but of course it has only been able to go on because the trust busters refuse to put these guys in their place. Ya think a lot of money may be involved? Because government officials have never been known to be swayed by the almighty dollar.. - Posted by: GRindinAxTaRupy Posted on: 01/12/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
