Interesting side point...
Flash is proprietary. I have no problem with that, but it shows where proprietary runs far ahead of what is officially sanctioned as a standard. It's a way to make interactive applications that moves far beyond the simple things possible with HTML.

If Flash becomes a de facto standard, it will be yet one more example of a de facto standard coming out of the proprietary realm (note: even international standards can be de facto standards...it all depends on whether it is popular).
