Don't tell me...
You were expecting a concise, informative rundown on what is wrong with Google and then suggestions as to how to make searching more effective or efficient?

Let's look at one of Bill G's comments:

In the future, he said, "we'll be able to have, essentially, document understanding, so that when you search for something, we give you an answer and not just a bunch of links that starts a treasure hunt that now takes about 11 minutes," he added.

At face value, you will enter some search criteria and magically the answer will appear. You will not be shown the original documents or links, you won't know what the thing did, you'll just get an answer - in less than 11 minutes I suppose.

And this is from the company whose contribution to the internet has been zero, nada, nil. They can't even implement decent searching on their own file system, what hope that they can do it on the internet? If they hadn't had Google (and before them the enlightened soles at DEC and AltaVista) to show them how to get this far, they'd never have even realised people wanted to search the internet at all.

I wish Bill would just give it up. He isn't now and never will be a visionary. Incredibly effective CEO and opportunist no doubt, but visionary? Nah, not a chance.
