We never "upgraded" to the software assurance program. No cost incentive or value in it. I have MS reps call me regularly to try to get me to commit, but I simply tell them that paying a yearly subscription for nothing is not in our (my companies) best interest. They stop pushing until the next time they call.

To the end of leaving MS behind, we have a single application that requires Windows. The producer of that application is beta testing the new version and the one part that locked us in may be scrapped. This will open us to no longer having to deal with the whole afair of licensing.
