- Re: Boycott Dell, HP, and Gateway
-
Many companies already are thinking in that direction. We used to a Dell shop here, but when it came time to start replacing some of our older desktop systems we decided to build our own. We have some local shops that were happy to build a system to our spec and leave the OS price (and software) out of the equation. We are already licensed for Win2K Pro and don't need or want the OEM copies of Windows XP that we would be forced to pay for.
The other deciding factor; not wanting to pay a premium on each machine for "World class tech support" with someone I cannot communicate efficiently with. The support centers will not answer questions unless the system is set up as it came from Dell (i.e. with an OS and software we removed) unless we choose an option that requires even a higher premium.
We asked Dell if we could get a price break and leave the OS off the systems. They say they are obligated to MS to provide it. Bu-bye Dell. HP and Gateway (ugh!) are no better. - Posted by: klmmicro Posted on: 06/28/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
