Why Kasparov Lost
Kasparov (allegedly) lost because he tried to play to the machine's weakness. It was said he was clued into some of the shortcomings of the software's strategies and basically tried to outpsyche the machine and instead of actually playing the game, found himself losing because he kept waiting for his secret strategies to work.

It obviously shows some problems in self-confidence - as if he ever showed anything like that at any other time(?) - because he thought he needed some "inside info" to beat the machine instead of letting his skill do his talking.
