Please get your facts straight before you post here next
time. The Mac, first of all, was the first mass marketed GUI
in the world. There was little Apple stealing of GUI ideas
then and today. In fact, look at the Windows Longhorn GUI.
Where in the world could they have gotten the idea for
transparent menus (Mac OS X), a transparent bar on the
side (Mac OS X Dock), and a graphics system built into the
system (Quartz Extreme in Mac OS X)?? And guess what?
Mac OS X has been out for 3 years now. Longhorn will be
out in 2006 at the earliest. Most of Longhorn's new
features, such as the Sync Manager to sync your devices
with your computer, have been available on the Mac for at
least a year (iSync).

In terms of pricing, Macs are actually the same price or
cheaper than PCs for what you get. Consider, for example,
that a $1099 eMac includes a DVD-RW/CD-RW drive, all
five of Apple's iLife programs, and, yes, is in a much prettier
case. I'm not seeing many PCs with a Superdrive and an OS
as advanced as UNIX/Mac OS X for less than $1099.
Looking at laptops, the Powerbooks are very competitively
priced and include the same features as their PC
counterparts in a smaller package, with other Mac-only
features like a light-sensitive illuminated keyboard.

Finally, consider the OS itself. Mac OS X receives far fewer
(almost no) viruses compared to Windows, and this is not
simply because the Mac has a smaller market share. Certain
steps are taken (see articles in various magazines) by Apple
that Microsoft doesn't bother with that result in a more
secure OS. Secondly, I have run OS X for 3 years, and it has
crashed twice. I actually helped someone set up their new
Dell PC with Windows XP installed, and after activating the
OS, the computer promptly crashed three times in a row
before it would respond to user input. Finally, since OS X is
open source, it is more generally accepted by the developer
world.

Don't jump to the conclusion that because Apple is small its
products are inferior. Certainly the opposite, large and
inferior, is true, as many have seen in their experiences with
Windows. My personal belief is that the words "Apple" and
"Macintosh" are met by most with the assumption that these
products are indeed inferior. Break past this assumption,
and the Mac can succeed.
