You'd think after IBM killed Apple in the early 80's and
compatibles killed them in the late 80s and Microsoft in the
90s and ...

Apple reporting falls into two camps. The "man bite dog"
special interest root for the little guy stories and the push
the victim to get the story first stories. The end of Apple
with a little help from the media is so timeworn it doesn't
matter if this time it's true.

My favorite is the market share myth. Who cares about 2 to
3% when useful life is 3 times longer? From that view
Apples' market penetration is much higher. 18 years
consulting the graphics/prepress industry tells the truth,
there is no client who has survived without Macs in their
business.

Let the headline seeking press yammer while Apple
continues to innovate. They should be careful what they
wish for, a world without Macs would relegate them in 2004
to attending IBMs Aromonk announcement of the PC-AT2
with PC-DOS 11 for only $3999. Free Visicalc 9 and
20mbps Token Ring card with purchase of upgraded 20Mb
hard disk.
