>No company should be allowed to control the guts of the computer (the operating system). That software should ALWAYS be free, open sources and from multiple sources that conform to strict interface standards.

Why shouldn't a company be able to control the Operating System? If they wrote it, it's theirs.. If you bought the software, you're bound to the license of it, if you use it.

I still can't figure out this sense of entitlement people have with demanding that things *must* be free. Other options are nice, which is why I have a Dead Rat box.. But, why should Microsoft bow to someone / some group / some government's will that they give everything they have away?

Why? Again, it's Microsoft's OS, not shawkins.. If you don't like it, don't use it. If your company only uses MS, well, find a different job. As many people on these boards state, there are lots more Open Source Jobs available than Microsoft jobs..
