Interesting..
From what I undersand is that the RAW format is the original "raw data" plus all the "developing" parameters. Therefore, when you use their program to view the image, the original data never gets changed. However, with JPEG, the original image and "developing" parameters are combined to create the jpeg file. Therefore the more extra processing you do on a jpeg degrades the image quality. Especially if you are running multiple processes on it.

Will TIFF do the same thing as the RAW image?

One of the reasons I thought RAW was used instead of any other image file types is cost. Most people want JPEG, so they include that conversion process. However, to include any other file type conversion would cost them more to include, thus raising the price of the camera. RAW data costs them nothing extra to produce.
