Raw image preferred by pros - not true.
"Most professional photographers prefer using raw image capture because it offers the highest quality and the greatest creative control. "

Perhaps thi is only for some freaks that I heard of when running edditing studio. Thjose are not tech savvy people who think that they can give away RAW supporting plugins from vendors of their cameras (subject to license). I refuse to install such plugins and if they want to publish their pictures in magazines we edit they have to provide either TIFF or JPEG.

TIFF is preferred standard. RAW is not a standard and every vendor and device can have different RAW definition unreadable.

Before you make editoiorial in ZDNet make your homework right. Don't just ask one befriended photographer who is a freak not having idea what is for him when he switches to another equipment that is not compatable with his old software. Take Canon CR2 version of RAW format as example... Older CR2 is not the same as newer CR2 and it is a pain in the neck of independent software vendors.

Again: TIFF (possibly with lossless compression LZW) or high quality JPEG.

In any case many professional photographers that are not artists do not seem to care much about quality. In fact they seem not to have a clue...

Publishing uses at most 300 dpi for high resolution editorial pistures. This is because theere is a human eye limit on angular resolution and it does not make sense to print pictures in resolutions that make no difference to a reader.

Artistic photographers may need higher resolutions for big enlargements.
