Choices
There are always choices people can make to minimize the impact of using a laptop. Speech recognition can help provide relief to those who type a lot. Dockig stations can help those who use a laptop in the office a lot. Backpacks (worn on *BOTH* shoulders) can help with the back strain and back pain associated with lugging the computer around. Carefully selecting what rides in the bag with the laptop can help lighten the load (I used to carry a bunch of junk *IN CASE* I wanted to work on it later... now I only carry what I *HAVE* to have. A collapsable wheeled cart can also help with the weight.

If you need to use a laptop, just figure out which combination of stragies will work best for you.
