Tie their hands?
According to the article, there's more than enough evicence (circumstantial or not) for an investigation. Do you wish to tie the hands of investigators and prevent them from looking into cases where there isn't yet any hard physical evidence? If so, we might as well just give up on trying to fight terrorism at all.

Does it really sound so farfetched that they would use the counterfeit CD/DVD trade to raise money? There's lots of money being made there, lots TO be made, and they are being defended, in the name of "civil disobedience" by people like you. The terrorists seem to thrive on protests from "well-meaning" people living in the countries that are their targets.

Whether or not you agree with it, it is illegal to sell bootleg CDs and DVDs, and it is the job of law enforcement to investigate such crimes. That it has at least a passing link to terrorism (on the surface) makes it even more critical if it's beign investigated. If the link turns out to be nonexistent, then so be it. But if they do find a terror-funding network in the counterfeiting trade, wouldn't you rather know?

Sticking your fingers in your ears and chanting, "La la la I'm not listening la la la it's a red herring la la la," won't help keep anybody safe.
