More overtime, less takehome is a hoax
In the United States, federal income tax is bracketed, that is, as your income increases, you move to higher 'brackets'. But, and this is the important part, you only pay the higher percentage for tha amount of your income that is in a given bracket.

So, if person 'A' makes $250,000/year and Person 'B' makes $25,000/year, person 'A' pays the same tax on their first $25,000 of income as person 'B'.

Now, state taxes are all over the board, but, usually, they account for a relatively small percentage of over all tax.
