More overtime tussles for tech companies?

overtime USED to be beneficial for everyone...

...when the dot-com boom was happening. Programmers and IT usually had stock options, so if you put more work into the company, the company as a whole did better. The company did better, your options were worth more.
Now, with options usually worth nothing or very little, IF employees get them; working overtime is just a left over remenant from the Dot-com era. Management expects it, and some people still give it.
Come on people 70-80 hour work weeks for weeks on end, maybe months, for a tiny bonus or a couple of days off. That's just management saying, "you're nothing to us, work harder, and we won't fire you." I've already told one VP where they can go, and what they can kiss. Those kind of hours and with pay today, I know some summer interns making more.
Now, I'm not saying I haven't or won't put some extra time in. I put extra in many times a week, but that's my choice. If you want a constant 80 hour work week, there better be lots $$$$ showing up next to that request.
