Agree mostly
"Although I liked 98 at the time, XP is much, much, much better in every single way imaginable."

I agree, I think XP is light years ahead of 98. Now if he said this about 2000 to XP then I'd say he had a point.

"At the absolute minimum, at least XP is a multi-user OS so relatively real security is attainable with XP."

"Those who whine about "fundamental security flaws" have a point with 98 but don't have a leg to stand on with 2000/XP."

Really? I think virus/trojan/worm/malware authors would severely disagree. Did the Sasser worm have any legs to stand on? wink

"I think the real snoozer release is Windows 2003."

I too find this puzzling. I have barely seen any marketing done for Windows 2003. It seems to just be sleeping along.

"Longhorn, at least from what I see so far, isn't that interesting either."

Yup, and this so far is a REAL BIG problem for Microsoft. They are duping themselves if they think they are going to release an XP Reloaded and expect to blow the roof off the industry. People are sick of Microsoft as it is, and are looking for reasons to run more and more. If Longhorn turns out to be as lackluster as it's appearing so far, I predict a BIG move away from Microsoft. If we could get a truly accurate accounting of how many copies of XP were sold not pre-loaded on machines, I think it would be a surprisingly dismal number compared to how it was anticipated to sell..
