In fact I've not complained at all
In fact I've not complained at all, No_Axe,but I do believe you are. You've misread the sentence at issue, just as Non-Zealot did. That's okay, I'm used to being misunderstood and correcting misunderstandings when I am. The sentence isn't written in past tense and therefore does not remonstrate Microsoft for prior misdeeds nor does it put claims in their mouth as you currently assert.

Up until this point, Microsoft has never equated Shared Source and Open Source - though John Carrol has. In fact, Microsoft has specifically denied the two license types are equivalent. I hope they continue to not equate these two fine license types.

To say I said Microsoft claimed the opposite flies in the face of good grammar. The "has called" that you use in your topic sentence is past tense. I used future tense as modified by the dependent clause in my statement. =IF= I had wanted to use past tense, thereby complaining and making an accusation, I would have written "Until Microsoft corrects these and other deficiencies; they ==should not have used== the term Open Source or open source to refer to their licenses" rather than the "should not use" that I employed.

I did not use the past tense, because that would have based the sentence on a false premise.

In short, No_Axe, you're misperceiving and complaining about a non-issue just as Nonzealot did earlier. Read my rather lengthy response to John Carrol entitled "Uphill Battle, John C" and perhaps you'll see why the tidbit for which you complain is dangled in the pseudo-careless manner of an angler. A trap was laid and executed. Would John C do the research or not?

Just try to be careful about those verb tenses when they're modified by a dependent clause. Okay? I know that they're challenging, but if I can make the effort to write them correctly, then certainly you can make the effort to read them correctly.
