..as a patent payer, you find patents restrictive...

Not really. If I use/comsume 3rd party patented components I respect the patent.
I wouldn't procure it if it didn't bring value.

My main problem is that I can and do write code and know I infringe on patents eg. a web page that uses tabs infringes on SBC's patent.
Similarly any web site involved in e-Commerce infringes on the eCommerce patent.
You simply cannot write software without infringement and the onus is on the developer.
The problem of course is that tabs in browsers, ecommerce, one click, Eolas etc should not be patents in the first place.
Even No_Friends admits the system is broken.
But he talks about shuffling the deckchairs while already sitting in the lifeboat.

Sure, but the status quo favours established players. Technical patents will be inventive but only in respect to the legalesse contained in the application.

Let the technical community in on the process.
Notice that No_Friends won't give us details on the patent.
Why?
Software patents are easy to get but also to lose if someone with more $ than you wants to make it so.
Of course, I just don't have the $$ to challenge these idiot patents but it's something I'd love to try.
