So the seller approves and the buyer rejects?
A number of good points, but, thinking as a patent payer, you find patents restrictive. Thinking as a patent seller, No_Ax likes them.
Why am I not surprised?

One of the points I agree with is the expense, duration, and uncertainty of patent lawsuits. Some lawsuits are legendary, and have ended with the true inventor crushed even after a "win".
But even the inventor would not say the solution is to eliminate patents. Fix the system, not the principle.

How to fix the system? There is no easy solution so long as regulatory decisions can be appealed in court. And with the shining example of Monti before us, I'm not willing to give up on the idea of courts over-ruling petty dictators (like Monti) or even corruption (not Monti).

Until AI produces judges whose decisions are assumed always to be correct, I think we have to live with a system of contending advocates and (sometimes clueless) judges.
