Software patents are bad
What happens when your small business has to fork out a 10 million dollars defending it's self in a patent law suit. Even though it's obvious that your company is in the right the large corporation can sink you. Or they can just "steal", using this just for you, your patented idea and run you out of money if you try to defend it.

What does patenting give the little guy? What does patenting give population in general?

I see in medicine that patents hinder innovation. In energy patent hinder innovation. Why would patents be differnt in software?
