This will not work in the long run...
Trying to make Solaris seperate from Linux, xxxBSD, or any other OS, but still have it be OSS is a pipe dream. The only chance here is to see Solaris supplant Linux as the OSS platform of choice, but Linux has too much steam in the "geek" community. That means that not being able to share "Sun stuff" and "Linux stuff" is just going to make these people mad. If they get mad, who will be the bad guy? Sun will be. They put the CDDL in place in such a way that it created this barrier.

You will never see OSS developers flock to Open Solaris with this situation in place. A few? yes. Widespread adoption? no.
