This is a problem for Microsoft. You can deploy .NET apps on Linux
Make sure you don't use anything that is not part of the public domain spec, and you can deploy for a small fraction of what it would cost on Windows. Imagine if you needed 100 servers to deploy your application. Also, much more secure, you are not forced to have any software installed that you don't want, no more constant patching. Well, that said, you can bet that Microsoft will be trying to add anything and everything that is not part of the spec to entice developers. I am not sure how many will take the bait and lock themselves in to the Microsoft platform.

In the end, this will force Microsoft to open everything up or to admit that it is NOT open. Great job Miguel!!!
