well, a little trip to http://www.go-mono.com would easily clear up any questions Mr. Montgomery would have. Obviously, Microsoft is attempting to give a bad impression about Mono.

As for it being a "small subset" - by that Montgomery tries to imply that Mono is an incomplete product when compared to .NET - when in reality Mono is the entire .NET development framework.
