Guess they had no choice...
Losing market share to Windows (SQL2000), MySQL and to IBM's own Linux DB, they had to do SOMETHING. Most small to medium sized businesses do not need Oracle's high priced DB when MS's 1,499 DB does the job and MySQL is practicly free. And now CA is jumping in IBM now offers it's own low priced DB, and of course, we all know Larry would cut off his nose to spite his face when it comes to MS. (he hates being in second place to anyone).
I think they would do better if they just quit overcharging for their products...
