Microsoft should do one thing..

..They should open up all their formats. The proprietary concept is going the way of the dinosaur. The proprietary companies are going to fight tooth and nail to stop this from happening (through patent wars, etc.) but the industry is speaking for where things are going. Linux is not necessarily a uniting force, but it is bringing excitement, innovation, and challenge back to the industry. Everyone deep down can see that this is happening. Of course Microsoft does.
They really have one choice at this point in time. Try to further monopolize, or try to open up. They have one last small window of opportunity to smarten up and start becoming communal again. They have lost their grassroots spirit, and that, probably more than anything else, is what the industry abhorrs the most. They don't care about computers anymore. They just want to own the whole pie, whatever that may be. They need to drop this mentality NOW. What's funny is, at this point, I'm not saying this out of my distaste for them, I'm saying this for their behalf. Microsoft is only trying to further alienate itself from the industry, and everyone is at a point where they are capable and ready to leave them behind. There is not much time left for them if they continue at this pace..one might say that's a very good thing. Bwahahahahaha!! YES!! Na, juzz kiddin'. Had ta.. We'll see mi compadres..
