And the reason is you are installing Solaris on Sparc which is as simple as simple can get. Sun software on Sun hardware means everything just works. The install problems get nasty when you start trying to install ANYTHING on commodity ix86 hardware where you have to have 100's of different drivers and do complicated probes to even get started. Solaris on Sparc is just like Mac on Power. Its a cake walk compared to ANYTHING on ix86 where you never know what might be lurking at the hardware level. Linux is an old hand at hardware detection and driver accommodation. Sun is not even in the race. You simply don't know what you are talking about and by admitting that you have only done Solaris on Sparc you confessed to as much with your own mouth.
