Its all relative ...
The current incarnation of high end Windows IS high end compared to LOW end Unix and Linux and SCOs ix86 Unix is very low end Unix. Having worked with Unix since the AT&T days (I started with V7), I know Unix fairly well. Windows has long been inferior to even the most entry level Unix. In fact Windows NT couldn't hold a candle to Linux. But with Windows 2000 that all started to change. But old Unix guys tend to still come up with the knee jerk response that Windows is junk compared to Unix. Get a life. Those days are over. Things have changed. I'm no Windows fan, but I give MS credit where credit is due. They have made huge progress which is a major reason why Unix vendors are sweating to maintain their lead. Windows Server STILL doesn't hold a candle to high end Unix. But low end Unix and Linux? Give me a break! The big advantage for Linux is price ... price ..price and control ... control ... control. In terms of quality and performance, Windows beats Linux these days on most counts. And that is not to say that Windows is a better choice. It is only to say that that is the reality. The actual choice is not a clear cut as the fake studies funded by MS make it out to be, but Windows DOES beat low end Unix AND Linux technically and you can bank on that one. To insist otherwise is just to be in denial and that will get you no where quickly.
