#3 is the winner ...
I predict their path will closely track #3. They will likely introduce transparent Linux compatibility while retaining the ability to add proprietary enhancements. Bingo! An instant winner! Linux+! And if they can find a way to joint venture it with MS like Novell is doing, so much the better (if they can convince Balmer to keep is flapping trap shut).
