There's three ways to do this...
1: Throw away the userland you don't need for building the kernel, package the rest into debian packages, and make a "Debian GNU/Solaris".

2: Incrementally replace native tools with current Debian or Red Hat packages in an ongoing basis.

3: Switch to Gnome or KDE, and get rub penguin oil into the rest of the userland until it smells like Linux.

#1 basically throws away most of the advantages of Solaris, plus abandoning the current users.

#3 means tracking debian/readhat forever.

#2 is much like what they did when they rubbed AT&T oil into SunOS to make it smell like System V.
