One little link will be apple in your face (no pun intended as
I loathe Apple...)

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/

Read it and weep. Maybe a couple tears, but it is a competent review that shows newer PCs run Vista more slowly than they do XP.

It's not about older machines. It's about how the SAME machine can run the software efficiently. Clearly, and this hurts to say, XP is rather more competently put together than Vista.

But due to many problems showing Vista isn't that much slower, it's why I've kept saying Vista SP1 might fix them. But given five YEARS of dropped ideas and this rush to release the mush, nobody has a right to gloat or call this monstrosity a success.

Especially when the WinSxS folder contains 3GB of multilingual rubbish and doesn't differentiate between country... it's a waste of space (over 4,000 files worth totaling 2.5GB) that WILL help hamper disk performance at some point... never mind file caching, hasn't any programmer at Microsoft India (or whatever country) learned this by now? (or is it more fun to make more loopholes in the WGA because nobody in their right mind would kill their cash cow and since Corporate America loves to reward pirates, it makes sense the pirates don't make life more difficult for themselves... don't blame me for India's 74% piracy rate (source Cnet Asia, 2005). It may have dropped by then, but I'd guess by a point or two only... at that rate, whew...)
