Every "new" GUI feature that Vista is promising the linux/BSD community has been able to do for a year or more. While it is true that there is nothing new under the sun, Windows has never taken the lead in GUI, they are the ones who always play catch up. You want to make the case that no one knows about it, then fine, but you should check your facts first.
The GTK+ and QT allow for competition. You may remmeber that competition is that pesky thing that drives innovation.
