a desktop OS is differet from real time OS even if called by the same name
I definitly would like to see a quick response linux with the graphical user interface that is real time to a 10micro second. Thats blowing smoke.

I could take a device (eg multiple processors - one processor just to do a specific task every 10 micro seconds and the other processor to update the display). However doing this would no longer be a general PC, it becomes a specific device.

Call this program that I write as Windows and guess what Windows can do real time tasks and is accurate upto 10 micro seconds.
Reality is taking a desktop OS (which isnt designed to be real time but is a general purpose operating system) and to make it absolute real time is next to impossible, even for linux. Either the response times have to be much larger or the processors have to be in Tera Hertz as opposed to GHz.
