Replacing Linux...
It's totally ironic to me that I wouldn't consider replacing any of my Linux boxes with Vista because it's too buggy, too complicated and lacks support. hehe.

For what it's worth, unless you've used Vista, you should be taking stories like that one with a grain of salt. Better stock up on a 5 lb bag of salt. You'll need it.

Vista Beta 2, from what I've seen isn't perfect. But then again, NO software is - except for maybe some useless and simple "Hello World" app. BUT... It's fairly stable. Most of the apps I use regularly work properly. A few aspects of some apps don't work properly - and will require the program's author to do some rewrites.

Vista Beta 2, which, btw, is 3 months old now and has been replaced by at least 150 odd builds - some of which have been released in the private beta channel - is fairly stable.

A lot of the stability issues have to do with how it was installed. A virgin clean install is always best (but that's TRUE for ANY version of Windows). If you've upgraded XP or Win 2000, there's been plenty of reports of issues. But then again, that's already nothing new. It's true for an upgrade from ANY previous version of Windows to a newer one.

As far as support goes. IT'S A BETA. Not every bit of hardware is going to have support. Since Vista is going through a LOT of changes as things get fixed, rearranged, etc... many vendors have decided NOT to provide driver files until things are a bit closer to being released. If you write a driver for a SoundBlaster Live card for Beta 2, there's a good chance it might NOT work quite right 50 odd builds down the road.

Support will come once the release candidates are released and things are less likely to change drastically.

As far as complexity goes - WTF are you babbling about? It's Windows. Yes, there's a few changes. NONE of which are all THAT complex or THAT out of the ordinary.
